Is Kendry Morales a fantasy sleeper in 2012?

Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide
Kendrys Morales hasn't stepped foot on a major league diamond since fracturing his ankle during a walkoff home run celebration in May of 2010. But the 28-year-old Cuban slugger hasn't fallen off our radar here at Rotoworld, and is suddenly looking like a potential fantasy sleeper for 2012.

Morales has progressed recently from straight-line running to taking zig-zag cuts and is expected to run the bases next week for the first time since arriving at the Angels' spring training complex in Tempe, Arizona. If he continues to avoid setbacks and is able to begin making appearances in Cactus League games by mid-March, the Angels are likely to pencil him in as their Opening Day starting designated hitter.

Morales isn't just some guy. He was a .332/.373/.528 hitter during his four years of minor league ball and registered a .924 OPS with 34 home runs and 108 RBI in his first full season in the major leagues (back in 2009). Albert Pujols joining the Anaheim lineup should mean more RBI and run-scoring chances for the rest of the batting order. And if health is on Morales' side, he's going to reap the benefits.

This is just one story we're tracking this spring in our constantly-updated Online Draft Guide. Check it out now. Dominate your league.
